“This is not anger. I have thought about it for months, and nothing that has happened lately changed my mind.” The request is on a desk at Ravan, and it is not being withdrawn.
Javid Garayev and a teammate said things this week that will take longer than a week to unsay. It was not about football, and both of them play on Saturday.
Somebody said out loud what several people had been thinking. Samir Ismayilov is at the centre of it, and the squad will now find out whether the standard rises or the pair of them simply stop speaking.
“Thirty minutes, door closed, everything said. We shook hands after.” Whatever was in the room stayed in the room, and Emin Madatov trained the next morning like a man with less to carry.

“It had gone on long enough. I would rather have it out than leave it sitting there.” Ten minutes behind a closed door at Ravan, and both men came out saying it was fine.
“If you cannot run for the shirt, somebody else will wear it.” No name was used and none was needed; every player in that room knew who it was for.

Supporters make their feelings known about Renat Nadirov
The speculation has reached the stands, and the stands have answered. Ravan would like this settled before it becomes the only thing anybody asks about.
19 days on the estimate, and a long, private, unglamorous year of a rehabilitation nobody watches. Ravan lose a footballer; he loses considerably more than a season.
“I have nothing bad to say about this place. I just need to be somewhere else.” It is in writing now, which changes what Ravan can pretend not to have heard.
Not now, not at any price the club was prepared to say out loud. Libertad have kept their man, and Ravan go back to a list with one name crossed off it.
The oldest argument in any dressing room and the only one that is genuinely about football: one man thinks another is not putting enough in. It is also the row a manager privately does not mind having happened.
“Thirty minutes, door closed, everything said. We shook hands after.” Whatever was in the room stayed in the room, and Tamkin Mammadov trained the next morning like a man with less to carry.
The table is being checked before the results are in, which is always the tell. Nobody at Ravan says the word and every senior player in the building is thinking it.
Ravan spent the window trying to move Rahid Guseynov on and nobody came. He trains with a squad that has already told him he is not part of it, and both sides now wait for the next one.
“This is not anger. I have thought about it for months, and nothing that has happened lately changed my mind.” The request is on a desk at Ravan, and it is not being withdrawn.
Samir Ismayilov and a teammate said things this week that will take longer than a week to unsay. It was not about football, and both of them play on Saturday.
It is the rarest sequence in football: supporters ask for something, and the club goes and does it. $50.0K for Kamran Guseynov, and for one week nobody is complaining about anything.
Ravan asked and Olimpia said no without discussing a figure. It is the least ambiguous answer in football and the one clubs most often come back to test.
Somebody said out loud what several people had been thinking. Tamkin Abdullayev is at the centre of it, and the squad will now find out whether the standard rises or the pair of them simply stop speaking.
The system has changed and his position has not. A footballer can improve his form; he cannot improve the manager’s formation, and that is the whole of the problem.
Another week, another link, another denial nobody quite believes. Ravan know the market decides these things, not the back pages — but the back pages are louder.
“I have nothing bad to say about this place. I just need to be somewhere else.” It is in writing now, which changes what Ravan can pretend not to have heard.
The clubs have shaken hands with Khazar; the player has not yet. Personal terms are next, and personal terms are where more deals die than anybody prints.
Add another name to the list: Zira have asked the question everybody in the game has been asking about Tamkin Mammadov. The answer from Ravan has not changed — yet.
Samir Ismayilov and a teammate went at it, and not about football. Training grounds are small places and a long season makes them smaller.

Ravan spend $110.0K on the signing the town wanted
It is the rarest sequence in football: supporters ask for something, and the club goes and does it. $110.0K for Bədavi Hüseynov, and for one week nobody is complaining about anything.
Bədavi Hüseynov arrives at 35 with nothing left to prove and plenty left to pass on. Legs are a young man's currency; knowing where to stand never ages.
“I have given everything here and I need a new challenge.” The request is formal, and the relationship will never be quite the same again.

Javid Garayev falls out with a teammate over standards

Clubs make promises constantly and the page usually only hears about them when they are broken. This one was honoured, and the dressing room noticed that faster than any supporter did.
Some afternoons a goalkeeper is the team. 7 saves, several of them the sort nobody expects to see stopped, and a scoreline that flatters everybody in front of him.
Successful dribbles: 28. There was always a defender in front of him and there was never a defender in front of him for long.

Emin Madatov, 21, plays like he has been here for years — 8.01
A mark of 8.01 means one thing beside a twenty-nine-year-old's name and something else entirely beside a 21-year-old's. Nobody at the ground needed telling which this was.
Samir Ismayilov and a teammate said things this week that will take longer than a week to unsay. It was not about football, and both of them play on Saturday.
He is 23 and the ground already sings his name, which is a thing that happens to local boys and almost never to signings. Everything from here is measured against an affection he did nothing to earn except be from here.
Marked 8.15 — the sort of number a correspondent writes down twice to be sure. Everything he tried came off, and what he did not try was not worth trying.
At 21 he was better than everybody his age in the division for four weeks running, which is harder than one good afternoon. Ravan will try not to make too much of it.
