Somebody said out loud what several people had been thinking. Wojciech Szafranek is at the centre of it, and the squad will now find out whether the standard rises or the pair of them simply stop speaking.
Nobody at Uralets-TS will say this on the record and the team sheets have been saying it for weeks. There is a small group in every squad who get picked when the fixture is difficult, and he has joined it.
He trains hard, says the right things and goes home to an empty flat. Nobody at Uralets-TS has done anything wrong, which is exactly what makes it so difficult to fix.
The clubs have agreed terms, and what remains is formality: a medical, a photograph, a signature. Nobody at Uralets-TS is pretending he will be back in the shirt.

A mark of 8.07 means one thing beside a twenty-nine-year-old's name and something else entirely beside a 19-year-old's. Nobody at the ground needed telling which this was.

The board was up, the win was priced in, and then Akron 2 scored. There is no worse minute to concede in and the ground emptied in the silence that follows one.
Four or five weekends of consistency, judged against everybody in the division doing his job. Mikhail Sentyurin has come out of that comparison in the side, and Uralets-TS have had the benefit of every one of those afternoons.
