Lautaro Palacios stays put
“The easiest signature of my career.” Lautaro Palacios and Deportes Copiapó agree another 3 years, and the manager can plan around him rather than about him.

A falling-out at Deportes Copiapó
Lautaro Palacios and a teammate went at it, and not about football. Training grounds are small places and a long season makes them smaller.

Gastón Pérez falls out with a teammate over standards
The oldest argument in any dressing room and the only one that is genuinely about football: one man thinks another is not putting enough in. It is also the row a manager privately does not mind having happened.

36 months and counting on Lautaro Palacios
Still no offer on the table, and Lautaro Palacios’s deal keeps shrinking. In boardroom language, silence this long stops being an oversight and starts being an answer.

Deportes Copiapó are still strangers to each other
6 new signings in one window. Every one may be an upgrade and the side can still be worse for a while, which is the part of a rebuild the verdicts never mention.

The manager’s verdict
“I am frustrated, honestly. We did enough to win and we did not win.” Cristian Sierralta was not hiding it after 0‑0, and nobody in the Deportes Copiapó dressing room was either.
Player ratings3 Aug 2026
Claudio Zamorano was unplayable
Successful dribbles: 12. He went past people as if he had been told there was a prize for it, and by the end the full-back had stopped pretending to try.

Point won or two lost for Deportes Copiapó?
Ninety minutes, no goals, and the argument started before the car park emptied: a point gained, or two thrown away against Deportes Temuco? Both sides of it will still be going on Thursday.
Looking ahead3 Aug 2026
A reunion for John Santander
He used to wear the other shirt. On Saturday he plays against Deportes Recoleta in this one, and whatever he says this week about it being just another game will be untrue.
In brief
