Jonathan Benítez was unplayable
Successful dribbles: 25. He went past people as if he had been told there was a prize for it, and by the end the full-back had stopped pretending to try.

Words exchanged at Palestino
Sebastián Pérez and a teammate said things this week that will take longer than a week to unsay. It was not about football, and both of them play on Saturday.

Marcelo Sagal steps up from the Palestino academy
There is no fee, no unveiling and no agent on the steps. Marcelo Sagal has been at this club since he was a boy and is now, formally, one of the first-team squad — which for a local readership beats any signing of any size.

Palestino promote Gary Vargas from within
The academy exists for exactly this morning. Gary Vargas has come through every age group the club runs and has now been handed a senior number, and the people who coached him at twelve will be the proudest in the building.

Palestino promote Jose Meneses from within
The academy exists for exactly this morning. Jose Meneses has come through every age group the club runs and has now been handed a senior number, and the people who coached him at twelve will be the proudest in the building.

Palestino refuse to lose to Huachipato
A point taken on 95 minutes is worth exactly one point and considerably more than that to a dressing room. This side does not stop, which is a reputation worth more than the result.

Both jobs done by Nelson Da Silva — 6.62
A midfielder is measured on whether the team functions when he is on the pitch, which is nearly impossible to see and completely obvious in retrospect. 9 actions, 6.62, and a manager who will not be substituting him again in a hurry.

José Bizama gets it from the manager
“Nobody here is above being told.” It was not said with a name attached, but the dressing room can count, and so can everybody who was listening.
