Both of them Luis Miguel's — 8.10
2 goals, and the second was the one that settled it. Marked 8.10, and he could have had a third with better luck at the near post.

Danilo Ribeiro stands alone
6 saves, and a scoreline the ten men in front of him had no right to. Goalkeepers only get noticed on the bad days; this was one of the other ones.

Vintage Roberto — 8.36
At 35 every good afternoon gets called a throwback, and this one was: 8.36, and nobody on the pitch better.

Caxias get the job done against Brusque
A 3‑1 win over Brusque, earned rather than given, and the sort of afternoon that sends everyone home talking about next week instead of this one.

Caxias agree a free transfer for John Echavez
Nothing happens for months and then he simply arrives, at no cost, having signed a pre-contract while still turning out for somebody else. It is the least dramatic way to sign a footballer and frequently the shrewdest.

Caxias supporters have found a favourite in Luis Miguel
There is a particular warmth a ground reserves for a 21-year-old it feels ownership of. Luis Miguel has it now, and everything he does for the rest of his time here will be measured against the goodwill he was handed for free.

One of our own: Danilo Ribeiro joins the Caxias first team
Clubs spend fortunes looking for players and occasionally find one down the corridor. Danilo Ribeiro is that, and the reception he gets on his first appearance will be different in kind from the one any signing receives.

Alex Ribeiro steps up from the Caxias academy
There is no fee, no unveiling and no agent on the steps. Alex Ribeiro has been at this club since he was a boy and is now, formally, one of the first-team squad — which for a local readership beats any signing of any size.
