Another week, another link, another denial nobody quite believes. Angers SCO know the market decides these things, not the back pages — but the back pages are louder.
Every squad has one of these fixtures for somebody every season. This one is Jordan Lefort’s: the club that knew him first, the supporters who will decide in the first minute whether to applaud, and Angers SCO needing him to play as if none of it matters.

There is no crueller way to lose a football match. Angers SCO scored in the 94th minute, the restart barely happened, and the away end was still standing when the whistle went.
The injury that keeps coming back, keeps being rushed back from, and quietly costs more careers than the dramatic ones. 18 days is the estimate; the honest figure depends on whether anybody is patient.
At 19 he is being sung about by people twice his age, which is an affection a signing has to earn over years and a local kid gets for turning up. It is also the hardest thing in football to live up to.

There is a particular kind of quiet from an away end watching one man score twice. Anthony Bermont provided it, and the 8.19 beside his name is if anything generous to everybody else.
