Four or five weekends of consistency, judged against everybody in the division doing his job. Bukayo Saka has come out of that comparison in the side, and Arsenal have had the benefit of every one of those afternoons.
Not a new contract, not a new number: a new place in the manager’s thinking, which is the only promotion in football that actually matters. Riccardo Calafiori has moved up it.
The chase for Reinildo ended with $9.3M changing hands and Sunderland out of reasons to say no. The supporters will judge the fee the only way that matters: on Saturdays.

Everyone has stopped pretending: Brentford will make the call about Gabriel Martinelli this week. Arsenal have a number in mind, and the number is not shy.
