2 goals, and the second was the one that settled it. Marked 8.81, and he could have had a third with better luck at the near post.

Aleko Basiladze, 20, plays like he has been here for years — 7.67
A mark of 7.67 means one thing beside a twenty-nine-year-old's name and something else entirely beside a 20-year-old's. Nobody at the ground needed telling which this was.
8.93. There are performances a supporter describes to somebody who was not there and cannot quite convey; this was one, and the number does not help either.
He is 20 and the ground already sings his name, which is a thing that happens to local boys and almost never to signings. Everything from here is measured against an affection he did nothing to earn except be from here.
Adrián Lutka had done his part in building a 2-goal cushion. What happened after that was collective, and Púchov were allowed back into a match that had been finished with.
There were 6 saves in it, and at least three that had no business being saves at all. The ten outfield players owe him a drink and they know it.

Ján Murgaš was on a different afternoon to everybody else
8.21. There are performances a supporter describes to somebody who was not there and cannot quite convey; this was one, and the number does not help either.
“This is not anger. I have thought about it for months, and nothing that has happened lately changed my mind.” The request is on a desk at Pohronie, and it is not being withdrawn.
Samuel Habodasz was at the centre of it, and by the time it was pulled apart there were three or four others involved. Training grounds are small places and long seasons make them smaller.
Clubs make promises constantly and the page usually only hears about them when they are broken. This one was honoured, and the dressing room noticed that faster than any supporter did.
“I did not go to Považská Bystrica to sit and watch. I want to come back to Pohronie and fight for my place.” 1 appearances in 14 matches say the rest.
“We keep meeting, and we keep leaving the room with the same numbers we walked in with.” Another round of talks at Pohronie, another week without a signature from Melvin Bijot.
Nobody at Pohronie will say this on the record and the team sheets have been saying it for weeks. There is a small group in every squad who get picked when the fixture is difficult, and he has joined it.
He trains hard, says the right things and goes home to an empty flat. Nobody at Pohronie has done anything wrong, which is exactly what makes it so difficult to fix.
Brandon Nativoha was at the centre of it, and by the time it was pulled apart there were three or four others involved. Training grounds are small places and long seasons make them smaller.
Every club pays most of what it earns to its players. Paying nearly all of it is a different arrangement, and it has ended the same way every time it has been tried.
Every shape has positions in it and this one does not have his. Pohronie will either change the shape, change his job, or change his club, and he is waiting to hear which.
There is no complaint available here and everybody involved knows it, which does not make the walk to the bench any shorter. Form is the only currency in football that cannot be borrowed against.
It is never announced and it is entirely visible: the biggest afternoons of the season keep containing him. A press box works this out long before anybody at the club confirms a word of it.
“There are things I liked and things we will be doing on Tuesday until they are right.” 1‑1, and a manager who had already decided what Tuesday looked like.
There is a particular kind of quiet from an away end watching one man score twice. Martin Rymarenko provided it, and the 9.89 beside his name is if anything generous to everybody else.
Two goals and a mark of 9.40 to go with them. Strikers are judged on afternoons like this one and remembered for far fewer of them than people imagine.
Every footballer has an answer to the question about his boyhood club, and most of them never get to act on it. Brandon Nativoha has, at Pohronie, and the first month will show what that does to a man.
A defender on the scoresheet, which happens rarely enough that everybody in the ground remembers who took the corner. 1 for him, and a mark of 7.30 for the rest of it.
Defending was optional and nobody took up the option. 7 goals between Pohronie and DAC Dunajska Streda, and not one of the people who paid to be there will ask for the money back.
16 signings in three months. Every one of them may be an upgrade and the team can still be worse for a while, which is the part of a rebuild that never appears in the transfer-window verdicts.
9 attempts, none of them in. He got into the right places all afternoon, which is the hard part, and did the easy part badly — and that is the version of a bad day a manager can live with.
Every squad has one of these fixtures for somebody every season. This one is Jakub Kousal’s: the club that knew him first, the supporters who will decide in the first minute whether to applaud, and Pohronie needing him to play as if none of it matters.
Ninety specific minutes wanted a different sort of player, and the manager picked one. He is not out of form and he is not in the side, and both are true.
“I am not asking anybody to be better than they are. I am asking everybody to be as good as they are, every week.” Said out loud, in front of everybody, and the room at Pohronie was different afterwards.
Successful dribbles: 29. He went past people as if he had been told there was a prize for it, and by the end the full-back had stopped pretending to try.
He is 18 and the ground already sings his name, which is a thing that happens to local boys and almost never to signings. Everything from here is measured against an affection he did nothing to earn except be from here.
It is not much of a headline and it is the reason players believe the next promise. Pohronie told Ján Murgaš something would happen and then it happened, which in this industry passes for remarkable.
“I watch every Pohronie game from here. That says everything about where my head is.” The loan at Považská Bystrica runs its course, but his heart never made the trip.
Form comes and goes; this has not gone. Anthony Pavlešić is 20, and the version of him training now would not have got into the side he was in a year ago.
It was not about football and everybody who saw it knows that. Two men who have to play together on Saturday said things at Pohronie this week that will take longer than a week to unsay.
Something was said to Martin Rymarenko and then it happened. In this industry that passes for remarkable, and the dressing room noticed faster than any supporter could.
Every manager keeps a short list in his head of the men he wants on the pitch when the stakes rise, and it is never published. The team sheets for the big afternoons say Martin Rymarenko is on it.
Somebody watched every match in the division at the weekend and decided he was the best thing in any of them. A small honour, and most careers end without one.
He used to wear the other shirt. On Saturday he plays against Slávia TU Košice in this one, and whatever he says this week about it being just another game will be untrue.
“I was told straight, and I would rather have it straight.” The manager at Pohronie has been clear about where Josef Struhař stands, which is more than many ever get.
Aleko Basiladze arrived with a record at a bigger club than this one, and the room has treated him accordingly. The young ones watch him train; the senior ones watch to see whether it lasts.
In brief
The dugoutJosef Struhař knocks on the manager's door
18 points, and the rest of the division looking up. Every side that finishes first spends the season pretending it is not thinking about it, and this one has started pretending.
At 39 he is supposed to be managing his minutes. Instead he was marked 8.20 and looked, for ninety minutes, exactly like the player everybody remembers.

Samuel Habodasz and a teammate said things this week that will take longer than a week to unsay. It was not about football, and both of them play on Saturday.
Marked 8.03. Players have careers without a single afternoon like this in them, and he has just had one in front of everybody at Pohronie.

16 new faces, and Pohronie are still learning each other
A squad rebuilt inside one window pays for it in a currency nobody budgets for. The football is not worse than the sum of the players; it is worse than the sum of the players who have played together before.
“A point is a point and I will take it, but we should have had all three.” Denis Suslov after the 1‑1 draw, and the sentence every manager in the country said at some stage this weekend.

The division's best last weekend was a Pohronie man
It is a small honour and it is not nothing: somebody watched every match in the division and decided that Daniel Pandula was the best thing in any of them.
17 days on the announcement, and a year of quiet, unwatched rehabilitation behind it. Pohronie lose a player for a season; he loses something harder to name.
Slovan Bratislava U21 will want this one forgotten quickly: 14‑0, every duel lost, and a long ride home. Pohronie were ruthless in the way good sides are ruthless.
3 goals in one game. The first was taken well, the second was taken greedily, and by the third the crowd were simply waiting for him to get the ball.

Aleko Basiladze, 20, plays like he has been here for years — 8.07
A mark of 8.07 means one thing beside a twenty-nine-year-old's name and something else entirely beside a 20-year-old's. Nobody at the ground needed telling which this was.
At 39 he is supposed to be managing his minutes. Instead he was marked 8.38 and looked, for ninety minutes, exactly like the player everybody remembers.
10.00. There are performances a supporter describes to somebody who was not there and cannot quite convey; this was one, and the number does not help either.
Marked 10.00 — the sort of number a correspondent writes down twice to be sure. Everything he tried came off, and what he did not try was not worth trying.
24 days on the announcement, and a year of quiet, unwatched rehabilitation behind it. Pohronie lose a player for a season; he loses something harder to name.
9.75. There are performances a supporter describes to somebody who was not there and cannot quite convey; this was one, and the number does not help either.
Behind, and beaten by any honest reading, until minute 98. Petržalka had the points in their pocket and a corner of the ground still believed, which is generally when it happens.
“I watch every Pohronie game from here. That says everything about where my head is.” The loan at Stará Ľubovňa runs its course, but his heart never made the trip.
“A point is a point and I will take it, but we should have had all three.” Denis Suslov after the 3‑3 draw, and the sentence every manager in the country said at some stage this weekend.
31 days on the estimate, and a long, private, unglamorous year of a rehabilitation nobody watches. Pohronie lose a footballer; he loses considerably more than a season.

Pohronie close the window on a squad of their own making
24 in and 20 out, and no more changes for months. The manager has what he has, the supporters have their opinion of it, and the table will have the last word.
Pohronie had done everything except persuade the man himself. He stays at Apolonia Fier, and the manager goes back to the drawing board with the money still in the bank.
Pohronie asked and Zbrojovka Brno said no without discussing a figure. It is the least ambiguous answer in football and the one clubs most often come back to test.
He is doing things on a Saturday afternoon that nobody around him can answer, which is flattering for about one season and a problem after that. Pohronie will not keep him by pretending otherwise.
The demotion a club never announces and a dressing room always notices. Mohammed Sallah is further from the side than he was, and the reason will not be given until he asks.
Nobody at Pohronie will say this on the record and the team sheets have been saying it for weeks. There is a small group in every squad who get picked when the fixture is difficult, and he has joined it.
Not a new contract, not a new number: a new place in the manager’s thinking, which is the only promotion in football that actually matters. Ján Murgaš has moved up it.
39 days on the announcement, and a year of quiet, unwatched rehabilitation behind it. Pohronie lose a player for a season; he loses something harder to name.
Two goals and a mark of 9.14 to go with them. Strikers are judged on afternoons like this one and remembered for far fewer of them than people imagine.
The offer from Inter Bratislava for Adrián Lutka was heard out and sent back the same day. First bids are rarely meant to succeed; they are meant to find out how loudly the door closes.
Pohronie asked and Tatran Prešov said no without discussing a figure. It is the least ambiguous answer in football and the one clubs most often come back to test.
It was not about football and everybody who saw it knows that. Two men who have to play together on Saturday said things at Pohronie this week that will take longer than a week to unsay.
There is a particular warmth a ground reserves for a 20-year-old it feels ownership of. Jakub Michlík has it now, and everything he does for the rest of his time here will be measured against the goodwill he was handed for free.
Ask anyone on the way out what separated the sides and you will get one name: Martin Rymarenko. 2‑0 against Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš, and the applause at the whistle was mostly his.

46 days on the estimate, and a long, private, unglamorous year of a rehabilitation nobody watches. Pohronie lose a footballer; he loses considerably more than a season.
Some afternoons a goalkeeper is the team. 7 saves, several of them the sort nobody expects to see stopped, and a scoreline that flatters everybody in front of him.
6.93, 1 on the scoresheet, and the specific comedy of a back-four player celebrating like somebody who does this every week. He does not, and that is exactly why the ground reacted the way it did.
Samuel Habodasz was at the centre of it, and by the time it was pulled apart there were three or four others involved. Training grounds are small places and long seasons make them smaller.
Every footballer has an answer to the question about his boyhood club, and most of them never get to act on it. Josef Struhař has, at Pohronie, and the first month will show what that does to a man.
Not now, not at any price the club was prepared to say out loud. MFK Ruzomberok have kept their man, and Pohronie go back to a list with one name crossed off it.
Footballers are asked about their boyhood club so often that nobody listens to the answer. Daniel Pandula has just signed for Pohronie, and for once the answer mattered.
It was not about football and everybody who saw it knows that. Two men who have to play together on Saturday said things at Pohronie this week that will take longer than a week to unsay.
Not now, not at any price the club was prepared to say out loud. MSK Zilina have kept their man, and Pohronie go back to a list with one name crossed off it.
Ask anyone on the way out what separated the sides and you will get one name: Daniel Pandula. 2‑1 against Dukla Banská Bystrica, and the applause at the whistle was mostly his.

There is a level at which a footballer stops being tested and starts being contained, and he reached it some time ago. Pohronie know it, and so does everybody who watches him.
“We keep meeting, and we keep leaving the room with the same numbers we walked in with.” Another round of talks at Pohronie, another week without a signature from Anton Sloboda.
There is a version of every career where the player ends up somewhere he chose rather than somewhere that chose him. Samuel Habodasz is living that version at Pohronie, and it tends to show in the first month.
The shirt still fits. Dan Ožvolda is back at Pohronie, and half the ground remembers him in these colours already. Some signings need selling to the town; this one sold itself.
Some transfers need a press campaign. This one needed a shirt with the old number on it. Richard Župa is a Pohronie player again, and the town has its story of the summer.
Samuel Habodasz and a teammate said things this week that will take longer than a week to unsay. It was not about football, and both of them play on Saturday.
Not now, not at any price the club was prepared to say out loud. AS Trencin have kept their man, and Pohronie go back to a list with one name crossed off it.
Somebody said out loud what several people thought about how hard another man trains, and Jakub Kousal was in the middle of it. The one dressing-room argument that is genuinely about football.
Clubs spend fortunes looking for players and occasionally find one down the corridor. Juraj Bozenik is that, and the reception he gets on his first appearance will be different in kind from the one any signing receives.
There is no fee, no unveiling and no agent on the steps. David Gyomber has been at this club since he was a boy and is now, formally, one of the first-team squad — which for a local readership beats any signing of any size.
Successful dribbles: 27. He went past people as if he had been told there was a prize for it, and by the end the full-back had stopped pretending to try.
Pohronie have made the call to Zbrojovka Brno. No fee, a share of the wages, and a spare shirt in the position where the squad has been thinnest all season.
“A point is a point and I will take it, but we should have had all three.” Denis Suslov after the 0‑0 draw, and the sentence every manager in the country said at some stage this weekend.

Adrián Lutka falls out with a teammate over standards
The oldest argument in any dressing room and the only one that is genuinely about football: one man thinks another is not putting enough in. It is also the row a manager privately does not mind having happened.
Ninety minutes, no goals, and the argument started before the car park emptied: a point gained, or two thrown away against Baník Lehota pod Vtáčnikom? Both sides of it will still be going on Thursday.
